New Visa data shows low-value international shipments emerging as the fastest-growing segment of online shopping. In the U.S., these purchases grew 25x faster than other e-commerce from 2021–2024. But now? As more countries end customs exemptions for these low-value imports—known de minimis in the U.S.—cost-conscious shoppers are pulling back and businesses are rethinking how they move goods. 🌍 From the U.S. and EU to Singapore and the Philippines, Visa's latest Global Economic Insight shows the real-world impact of these trade policy shifts: https://lnkd.in/ghpvyBPi 💡: Richard Lung, Principal Global Economist | Dulguun Batbold, Senior Global Economist #VisaEconomicInsights #VisaConsultingAnalytics #Ecommerce #DeMinimis #GlobalTrade #SupplyChain

Want to stay ahead in business? At Visa Payments Forum Americas today, I shared four recommendations that are shaping the future of payments and how our value-added services are helping clients stay in front of them. We gather these recommendations based on 1,000’s of client engagements Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) does each year + insights from VisaNet data. Here’s a snack-sized recap: 1️⃣ Modern tech stacks are essential, if you want to stay ahead of the game and win customers. Today, too many businesses operate on 50-year-old legacy tech stacks designed for an analog world. Look no further than Pismo. 2️⃣ Fight fraud with leading-edge strategies to stay ahead of complex threats. Fraudsters are more sophisticated than ever, with losses expected to hit $10.5 trillion by FY25. Every business needs a holistic, leading-edge strategy to stay ahead. Featurespace and Visa Protect Risk Solutions are here to help. 3️⃣ Drive merchant growth with higher approvals while simultaneously managing fraud. Merchants constantly work to optimize their customer check-out experience, but this is getting increasingly complicated and expensive to manage as alternative payment types grow. Open platforms like Visa Acceptance Solutions provide the required flexibility. 4️⃣ Unlock customer growth with stand-out user experiences and hyper-personalization. Attracting and retaining loyal customers is tougher than ever. We’re in an era where customer experience is highly valued and personalization at scale is the expectation. Our Marketing Services team taps into marketing specialists, sponsorship assets, analytics and more to deliver custom-built, stand-out campaigns. The world simply moves too quickly to be successful building it all yourself and our products and solutions provide the composability, agility and competitive differentiation businesses need to set themselves apart today. These are just a few key trends to watch. Discover 6️⃣ more from our consulting team at the link in comments. #VPF2025 #Payments #Innovation #ValueAddedServices

Our final lap of insights on the Melbourne and Suzuka races takes us from the varied travel patterns to how they benefit merchants, especially small and medium-sized businesses. 📈 SMBs are capturing an increasing slice of the travel pie, earning around 40% of all travel receipts in Melbourne despite larger retail chains being in the area. This trend is not going unseen in Suzuka, as the number of SMBs around the circuit has doubled from 2022 while overseas traveller spending on SMBs during race week has also doubled. 💰Which SMBs are benefiting the most? In Melbourne and Suzuka, SMBs in retail and dining are accounting for the lion's share of spending - a sign that travellers may be keen to savour local fare and homegrown products when they're in town for the races. 💳 What is driving this shift? An important lever may well be contactless payments, which is becoming a staple for travellers seeking simpler, fuss-free payments. SMBs that accept contactless payments in Melbourne saw travel receipts climb by about 20% in the race week while in Suzuka, merchants and travellers alike are wising up to the convenience of contactless payments, which now account for 70% of all transactions during the race week, a huge leap from 1% just three years ago. Our analyses of the Melbourne and Suzuka races not only show how motor racing is driving travel. They also demonstrate how data can help businesses make more informed decisions that unlock more growth opportunities. Melbourne and Suzuka are two of Asia Pacific’s biggest races, but Suzuka's historic circuit and Melbourne's city race have a unique allure for fans at home and abroad. In the first of a 3-part series, we dove into our data with Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) to compare just how these races inspire travel, the travellers they attract, and importantly, how businesses in each city can capitalise on the tourism boost. Our key findings: 🏎️ Both races sparked a surge in tourism, with approximately 20% more travel spending in Melbourne and about 25% more travel spending in Suzuka in the weeks of the races. 🏎️ Melbourne’s race is more cosmopolitan, with 1 in 4 travellers coming from abroad. But Suzuka's global appeal is surging, as the share of overseas travellers has doubled and their spending has skyrocketed about 200% from just two years ago. 🏎️ Motor racing is inspiring affluent travel. They form a higher proportion of all travellers to Suzuka, but affluent travel to both cities when the races roll into town is climbing rapidly by about 90% in Melbourne and 70% in Suzuka from just two years ago. What does this all mean for businesses? Read our full insights: https://vi.sa/4jTtU5F #PowerofVisaData #VisaConsultingandAnalytics
