🚍✨ Today marked the third and final session of our project pitch training series for public transport fleet electrification, held under the Transformative Actions Program (TAP) – TUMI E-Bus Mission. Throughout these sessions, cities from India, Brazil, and Ecuador presented their electrification projects to a diverse jury of experts in mobility, investment, and finance, who provided invaluable feedback and guidance. Last push for STA Nominations! Deadline April 30, 2025! ITDP, together with an international committee of development and transport experts including GIZ, invites you to nominate your city for the annual Sustainable Transport Award. Each year a city is selected that has implemented innovative sustainable transportation projects in the preceding year. These strategies improve mobility for all residents, reduce transportation greenhouse gas and air pollution emissions, and improve safety and access for cyclists and pedestrians. The winning city and honorable mention will be honored in a ceremony, January 2026. Now is the chance to encourage cities you may know or work in to be nominated for next year's STA. Nominations are now open and will be accepted online until April 30, 2025! 🚍 Excited to share that UITP Academy organised a training programme on 'Electric Bus Operations and Human Resources and Competence Management' under the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative E-Bus Mission with the kind support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH - GIZ India and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on 22-23 April 2025 in New Delhi, India. The classroom sessions covered topics ranging with focus on electric bus operations like An Electric Solution for Urban Bus Networks, Vehicles, Infrastructure, Auxiliaries, State of the Market, Occupational Health and Safety for Maintenance of E-Bus, Driving Behaviours Impact on E-Bus Energy Performance; to topics on Human Resource Management in Public Transportation Workforce, Planning and Capacity Building for E-Bus Maintenance, Competence Management Framework, and Training and Upskilling. The sessions taken by our international trainers highlighted the best practices globally, while the domestic trainers showcased Case Study presentations on Bengaluru and Mumbai. The training also included a Technical Visit to the Electric Bus Depot of Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System Ltd. (DIMTS) at Burari to give hands-on experience to the participants. The depot houses 160 e-buses manufactured by JBM Group - JBM Electric Vehicles. Through the Technical Visit the participants got practical exposure on operations, e-bus infrastructure design and maintenance, importance of safety protocols and signages, and human resource management for deployment of e-buses. 🚍 Today marked the kickoff of our Pitch Training Sessions under the TAP-TUMI component of the e-Bus Mission! Since 2019, this journey has focused on empowering cities to develop financeable, future-ready e-bus projects—and today, we saw that vision in action. In our first session, representatives from Udaipur, Shimla, and Rajkot presented their proposals, receiving insightful feedback from a panel of expert jurors on how to align with key investment criteria. 👏 A big thank you to Ritesh Paidar, Tilok Chand, and Rajesh Sonagra for their inspiring pitches; to Rohan Shailesh Modi, Ravi Gadepalli, and Arun Krishnan for your valuable contributions as jurors; and to André da Vila, Vijay Saini, Katya Garg, Ana María Cruz Ochoa, and the rest of our ICLEI team for the collective support, coordination, and guidance provided to the cities throughout this process.
