This #InternationalWomensDay, we're highlighting our #WomenInSTEM scholarship programme, which has given 436 women a world-class education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics since it launched in 2020. To improve access to STEM education for disadvantaged women and address the underrepresentation of women in STEM industries, the programme offers eligible applicants funding for a one-year master's degree at selected universities in the UK. The programme is currently open for applications from women across 24 countries and territories, who must demonstrate a need for financial support, be active in their field of study, passionate about developing their career, and willing to engage other women in STEM. 🎉 The UK/Poland Season 2025 is here! We’re launching a season of 100+ cultural events across the UK and Poland, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and connection between the two countries. To mark World Book Day we're sharing the incredible story of Monica Mya Maung. Monica was a librarian at the British Council library in Myanmar. She arrived in the country in 1937 and dedicated her life to her work, making the library a cultural asset for the local community. In 1966, the library had to close its doors due to political turmoil in the country. Fearing confiscation, Monica risked everything to hide over 200 library books, protecting them for future generations.
