At the 5th edition of the Qatar Economic Forum, themed “The Road to 2030: Transforming the Global Economy,” world leaders and CEOs discussed the future of key sectors, including global tourism. Accor’s Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin joined a focused panel moderated by Bloomberg’s Joumanna Bercetche to explore critical topics shaping tourism today and tomorrow: luxury, sustainability, regional competition, and beyond. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) stands out as a global tourism hotspot. Qatar’s tourism is experiencing remarkable growth, welcoming over 5 million visitors in 2024, fueled by luxury developments such as Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Doha. Looking ahead, Accor plays a key role in this growth, with strategic development underway, such as the upcoming opening of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts Doha in 2025, designed to meet the needs of a diverse and evolving traveler base. Qatar and the Gulf region’s strategic investments, the unified GCC visa, and a commitment to authentic, culturally rich experiences are positioning them as premier destinations for both luxury and business travelers. We’re proud to be part of this exciting transformation, bringing hospitality innovation and sustainable development to the heart of the Middle East.

Accor continues to deepen its development in Eastern Europe, where the intersection of hospitality, heritage, and strategic investment is shaping the region’s transformation into a powerful engine for tourism and economic growth. Our Deputy CEO, Jean-Jacques Morin, was on site at the FII PRIORITY Europe 2025 forum in Tirana, Albania, to speak about investment opportunities in Europe. He shared the stage with other international speakers to discuss how destinations can scale responsibly through infrastructure, education, and public-private collaboration—while preserving their cultural identity and natural assets. Esteemed guests included President Emmanuel Macron and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who addressed Europe’s role in a world reshaped by shifting supply chains, evolving power dynamics, and accelerating technological revolutions. Jean-Jacques Morin emphasized the need to combine agility in the short term with long-term stability—a crucial balance for Europe to think quickly and make swift decisions, while building a strong future. As Richard Attias, CEO of the FII Institute aptly stated: “Today, Europe stands at a crossroads… This continent, anchored in values of openness, rule of law, and human capital, is reasserting its relevance.”

At Arabian Travel Market 2025, Accor reaffirmed its leadership in the Middle East with ambitious growth plans aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. A key highlight was the signing of a landmark agreement with the Saudi Tourism Authority | الهيئة السعودية للسياحة (STA) to strengthen collaboration across marketing, guest experiences, and global campaigns. This partnership will boost hotel bookings, elevate brand visibility, and deliver curated experiences across our expanding portfolio in Saudi Arabia, while also supporting local talent development and sustainable tourism. With SAUDI AIRLINES, the Kingdom’s national carrier, we’ve signed a strategic loyalty partnership enabling ALL members to redeem points for AlFursan miles. This connects two powerful travel ecosystems and opens the door for richer, more rewarding travel experiences across our hotels, brands and Limitless Experiences globally. In Saudi Arabia, we currently operate over 45 hotels, with 44 additional properties set to bring more than 11,000 new keys by 2030. Highlights include the debut of the region’s first TRIBE Hotels and TRIBE Living concept in Riyadh’s King Salman Park, alongside expansion into emerging destinations such as Al Baha, Dhahran, and Khamis Mushayt. As the largest hospitality operator in the Holy Cities, with 13 hotels and over 12,500 rooms, we’re growing our presence in Makkah and Madinah through transformative projects like the Rua Al Madinah complex. To support spiritual tourism, we launched the ALL Makkah-Madinah Portal, a dedicated platform designed to assist millions of pilgrims with seamless Umrah and Hajj planning. We’re also accelerating our digital strategy to meet the evolving needs of travelers. Through our partnership with Wego.com, MENA’s leading travel app and online marketplace, we’re boosting our digital presence and traveler engagement across high-growth markets like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Qatar, and Kuwait. In the UAE, our strengthened partnership with Investment Corporation of Dubai and Valor Hospitality Partners led to the opening of a six-hotel cluster in Dubai’s Deira Waterfront, adding nearly 1,000 keys across Novotel, Mercure, ibis Styles, and Adagio brands. Our regional footprint continues to expand with upscale resort developments in Egypt’s North Coast, the upcoming Swissôtel Corniche Park Towers in Doha, and new entries into Baghdad and major Turkish destinations including Istanbul, Antalya, and Bodrum. With a portfolio of over 45 brands, a strong focus on local talent, sustainability, and culturally attuned hospitality, Accor remains at the forefront of shaping the future of travel across the MEA region.
