The Castello Plan: Life in New Amsterdam
This event has already occurred
Description
The Castello Plan is a map depicting New Amsterdam around the peak of its settlement, commissioned in 1660, just before the English gained control of the colony. This installation offers insight into the everyday life of the 1,500 people who lived at the southern tip of what was then known as Mannahatta, showing the settlement’s diversity, global reach and dark legacies through additional documents and objects.
