Say hello to our 2025 Venice Biennale Fellows! 👋 The 46 Fellows represent 24 partner organisations. They come from 20 different countries, and this year we’re welcoming four Kenyan Fellows who join us as part of the UK/Kenya Season 2025. The Fellows will spend a month at the Venice Biennale – one of the longest-running and most prestigious cultural festivals. There they’ll develop a personal creative project and act as ambassadors for the 2025 commission ‘GBR – Geology of Britannic Repair’. ‘Geology of Britannic Repair’ explores the intersection of architecture and geology through a unique collaboration between the UK and Kenya. Transforming the British Pavilion, the exhibition invites visitors to reimagine architecture as an earth practice that rebuilds the connections between people, ecology and land. The 2025 British Pavilion exhibition is a key part of our UK/Kenya Season 2025: a year of collaboration between the UK and Kenya, which celebrates the connections between the two countries. 🔗 Learn more about the 2025 Fellows and partners: https://lnkd.in/g7HA_eZ3 #BritishPavilion #VeniceBiennale #VeniceBiennale2025 #GeologyofBritannicRepair #UKKenyaSeason2025 #BritishCouncil

We've published our new report analysing the British Council’s oral history collections! Part of our Oral History project, the report draws on the stories, emotions, experiences, and reflections of colleagues and partners from across decades and geographies. In today’s shifting geopolitical landscape, these personal narratives offer timely and powerful insight into the role and impact of the British Council as a cultural relations organisation. The analysis identifies four key themes: • The soft power impacts of culture, educational exchange, and the English language • A shift towards a more proactively decolonial approach to cultural relations • The importance of long-term presence in the countries where we operate • The transformational impact of international experiences on individuals and communities Dip into the Executive Summary now 👇 or explore the full report online and original clips from the interviews: https://lnkd.in/ghZXxfag #BritishCouncil #OralHistory #CulturalRelations #StoryTelling
