After 2 years of pandemic-induced, virtual 2021 and hybrid 2022 editions, CES — the biggest annual consumer technology event in the business — returned to its full in-person glory. The 2023 edition of the tech event saw thousands of exhibitors and media members descend upon Las Vegas to showcase and cover the latest industry products and trends.

As expected, this year’s CES was brimming with exciting announcements from both ambitious startup companies and established industry titans like LG, Lenovo, and Samsung, among many others. The new products ranged from small items like phone cases and true wireless earbuds to an incredible selection of desktop and laptop computers with new designs and form factors.

Of course, CES 2023 was where many new big-ticket home appliances like washing machines made their debut. The new arrivals ranged from an innovative smart oven equipped with an integrated camera (say goodbye to burnt brownies) to color-changing French Door refrigerators, and sleeker, more immersive TVs in various price points, to name a few major categories.

As always, CES 2023 brought us new industry-wide trends that will shape the future of the consumer tech industry and products. Some of the buzzworthy ones we heard and noticed included a stronger focus on sustainability (think more eco-friendly and energy-efficient products) and the broader adoption of the Matter smart home protocol, bringing easier integration for connected products. Wi-Fi 7 — the latest and most futureproof connectivity standard — was also notably present.

At Best Products, we followed the years-long tradition of attending briefings (in-person and virtual), parsing through press releases, and scrutinizing specs to help determine the best new gadgets of CES 2023. We organized our findings into several major categories: Audio, Entertainment & Gaming, Home & Appliances, Computers & Accessories, Personal Care, and Family. Here are the best products worth your attention, time, and hard-earned money.

    LEARN MORE

LG marked the 10th anniversary of launching a big-screen OLED TV in style with several new products, each packing a mesmerizing display panel with millions of individually backlit pixels. The LG G3 Evo is the most notable addition to the lineup, courtesy of new tech dubbed Brightness Booster Max. In a manner befitting its name, the feature can bump the TV’s brightness by 70%, resulting in stunning picture quality.

Like its predecessors from the same series, the LG G3 also has a minimalist design that makes it perfect for wall mounting. The product has futureproof specs for best-in-class viewing and gameplay and a feature-rich platform. It will arrive at retailers soon, and although it won’t come cheap, it's well worth the cost.

    Best Gaming Laptop
    Raider GE78 Gaming Laptop
    MSI Raider GE78 Gaming Laptop

The MSI Raider GE78HX gaming laptop offers an array of sleek design and futureproof hardware specs that will bring years’ worth of fantastic gameplay. The big-screen notebook’s RGB lighting setup is impressive, thanks to a matrix bar and a SteelSeries keyboard with highlighted WASD keys (a must for gaming). Best of all, disabling the lighting transforms the gaming rig into an understated PC laptop ideal for conquering school and work projects.

Hardware-wise, the MSI Raider GE78HX features 13th-generation Intel silicon, high-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics, a 17-inch screen, and a six-speaker setup. The notebook will hit the shelves in the months ahead with a $2,999 starting price tag.

    Best VR Headset
    VR2
    PlayStation VR2

For decades now, Sony has unveiled its latest and greatest TVs and home theater hardware at CES. The tech behemoth switched things up this year and chose to instead focus on new accessories for its PlayStation 5 console, including a new more-accessible controller dubbed Project Leonardo and its upcoming virtual reality headset.

Compared to the first PSVR headset, which was released in 2016, the $550 PSVR2 packs a significantly better OLED screen, four built-in movement-tracking cameras, and improved Sense controllers. It offers gamers a 110-degree field of view, a smoother 120Hz frame rate, and support for 4K HDR. It only uses a single cable, so you won’t get tangled up while you’re experiencing new worlds, which I think is another nice touch.

There are already over 30 games on track to be available for the headset’s February 22 launch, including one of my personal favorites, Beat Saber. Better yet, Sony is offering a free VR upgrade for Gran Turismo 7 at launch. You can preorder the headset now!

    Best Wireless Earbuds
    Tour Pro 2 Wireless Earbuds
JBL Tour Pro 2 Wireless Earbuds

The Tour PRO 2 true wireless earbuds by JBL captured our attention by bringing a charging case with an onboard touchscreen. The tiny 1.45-inch panel will allow you to control the audio playback, take calls, and even check on notifications without having to reach for your big-screen phone. Such functionality brings a whole new world of interactions to a must-have gadget.

Touchscreen-toting case aside, the PRO 2 earbuds will also deliver stellar sound and noise cancellation, good call quality, and up to 10 hours of battery life. The top-shelf buds will arrive in April for $249.95.

    Best Graphics Card
    Nvidia RTX 4070 TI
    MSI Nvidia RTX 4070 TI

The recently announced RTX 4070 TI from NVIDIA is the company’s latest GPU from its “Ada Lovelace” series. It is roughly 20% faster than the RTX 3080 at 1440p and more closely matches the performance of the zippy RTX 3090 and RTX 4090 GPUs but at nearly half the price.

The card is equipped with an HDMI 2.1 port, three 1.4 DisplayPorts, three blade fans, and its extended heatsink helps provide efficient heat dissipation. It supports NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 features for AI-accelerated resolution, frame rate boosting, and the new AV1 video codec.

Fortunately for serious gamers, the RTX 4070 TI is available for purchase as of Jan. 5. If you decide to upgrade your GPU to this beast, just make sure you have a 750-watt power supply!

    Best Bluetooth Speaker
Clip 4 Eco Mini Bluetooth Speaker
JBL Clip 4 Eco Mini Bluetooth Speaker

As its name suggests, the JBL Clip 4 Eco is a new, Earth-friendly version of our favorite mini Bluetooth speaker. The tiny gadget is crafted using 90% post-consumer recycled plastic. On the other hand, its signature fabric cover is 100% recycled.

The hardware specs of the Clip 4 Eco are the same as those of the regular version. The highlights include Bluetooth 5.1, an IP67 rating for water resistance, and up to 10 hours of battery life. The speaker will arrive in April with a $79.95 sticker.

The ROG Raikiri Pro Xbox controller by ASUS stands out with an onboard OLED display and DAC. The former will allow players to change controller profiles, keep tabs on its battery and microphone status, or customize it with text or animation. On the other hand, the onboard DAC allows the gaming gadget to deliver a lifelike sonic experience with wired cans.

In addition to the adjustable triggers and rear buttons, ASUS equipped the Raikiri Pro with a robust set of connectivity features: Bluetooth, low-latency RF, and USB-C. The product will launch later this year. We don’t know its price tag just yet.

    Best Robot
    S8 Series
    Roborock S8 Series

Roomba-rival Roborock launched a new line of premium robot vacuums dubbed the S8 Series, which includes the S8 ($750), S8+ ($1,000), and S8 Pro Ultra ($1,600). The trio of cleaners boasts an impressive 6,000 pascals of suction — 122% more than our current best overall robot vac, the Roborock Q5.

Besides that, the new vacuums feature a new dual roller brush system, which we expect will improve carpet cleaning performance and prevent tangles and clogs from hair. All three vacuums offer the ability to simultaneously mop your hard floors, making cleaning your floors easier than ever. The S8 Plus and S8 Pro Ultra include docks that automatically empty the robot’s onboard dustbin. The latter even washes the mop, refills the mop’s clean water tank, and empties its dirty water. The S8 Series is expected to launch in April.

    Profile Smart Stand Mixer
    GE Profile Smart Stand Mixer

KitchenAid has dominated the stand mixer category for decades now, so it was nice to see a new player enter this space, and live demonstrations of the GE Profile Smart Stand mixer at CES made me even more excited. So, what sets it apart from your trusty KitchenAid?

For starters, the Profile’s generously sized 7-quart mixing bowl rests atop a built-in scale so you can perfectly measure your wet and dry ingredients — which is imperative for serious bakers. The scale has some smarts to boot and can even account for ingredients that you’ve already added — allowing you to zero things out and move on to adding the next ingredient without having to do any math.

It also integrates with your Alexa or Google-Assistant-powered smart speaker, so you can ask your digital assistant to stop the paddle or adjust speeds when your hands are too sticky to touch its onboard controls. GE told us that the mixer uses motor torque feedback to monitor subtle changes in texture and velocity of ingredients to help you avoid over- or under-mixing recipes. GE Profile also has a complementary app, dubbed SmartHQ, which packs a bunch of guided recipes that offer step-by-step instructions to help you try new bakes with little room for error.

The GE Profile Smart Stand Mixer, which is available in black, white, and silver finishes, is priced at $1,000 and is now available for purchase exclusively at Crate & Barrel. It comes with a bowl, a whisk, a beater, and a dough hook.

    Best Large Appliance
    Counter-Depth MAX French-Door Refrigerator
    LG Counter-Depth MAX French-Door Refrigerator
    Now 32% Off

LG showcased two modern and highly innovative refrigerators at CES this year. Its MoodUP refrigerator packs four LED-lit door panels that can be customized in over a dozen different colors. You can adjust the colors depending on your mood, to match your décor, or to align with the seasons. Plus, they can be set to change colors to the beat of the music that you play with over the fridge’s built-in Bluetooth speaker.

Another unique feature of this fridge is its sleek mirrored front panel that supports LG’s InstaView tech. When you knock on its right side, a “window” appears so you can see what’s inside without opening the door to prevent cold air from escaping and energy from being wasted. Besides that, the fridge packs a self-cleaning water nozzle, and it has the ability to create four different sizes of ice: mini or regular-sized cubes, crushed, and low-melting spherical ice that’s perfect for cocktails.

As fun as the MoodUP looks, we think LG’s latest Counter-Depth MAX French-Door refrigerator should be the one on your radar. The four-door refrigerator has a generous 25.5 capacity, despite having the dimensions of a smaller-sized counter-depth refrigerator. That means you get 25% more room for storing food and drinks than previous LG counter-depth refrigerators. Pricing and availability for the Counter-Depth MAX have yet to be announced.

    Best Kitchen Appliance
    Bespoke AI Oven
    Samsung Bespoke AI Oven

Artificial intelligence (AI) was one of the major trends of CES this year, and Samsung’s latest kitchen appliance makes use of the tech in a unique, new, and exciting way with its latest Bespoke AI Oven. The oven uses an AI algorithm alongside an internal camera to recommend the appropriate cook time and temperatures for up to 80 different dishes. It’s capable of air sous vide, air frying, and steam cooking — plus, it can detect (and hopefully prevent) your meals from burning.

This smart oven even can integrate with other Samsung apps like SmartThings Cooking and Samsung Health to help users with their diet goals or recommend meal options based on the ingredients they have at home. Since it has a built-in camera, the oven can send a live video feed of your food straight to your phone for convenient and easy remote monitoring. I’m sure my colleagues at Delish would also love to learn that the oven offers the ability to livestream your cooking on social media.

The oven has a sleek appearance with a unique handle-less push-to-open door. Samsung told me that the Bespoke AI Oven will be available in five colors. It’s expected to launch late this summer, and pricing has yet to be announced.

This TP-Link offering is a do-everything home security product that combines a doorbell with a high-resolution camera sensor and a sophisticated door lock with several unlocking methods. They include face recognition, a fingerprint sensor, a numeric code, or a mobile app.

The Tapo Smart video door lock has a nicely understated design and an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. It will arrive on retailers’ shelves later this year. Pricing is yet to be revealed.

    Smart Hummingbird Feeder
    Bird Buddy Smart Hummingbird Feeder

Back in 2016, I too, was one of the millions of people who jumped on the Pokémon Go bandwagon and hunted Pokéstops, Poké Balls, and a menagerie of quirkily named creatures.

Bird Buddy’s latest bird feeders feel a lot like Pokémon Go, just with birds. The startup showcased a prototype of a new AI-powered smart hummingbird feeder that takes photos and videos of hummingbirds with a motion sensor-activated camera. It even uses AI to determine what kind of hummers make a stop at your place. It can identify up to 350 different hummingbird species with wing speeds of up to 60 mph. Rather than peering out of your window all day with hopes of seeing one, you’ll get a push notification right to your phone when it senses a hummingbird.

There’s no word yet on how often you’ll have to charge its onboard battery. Fortunately, the feeder is compatible with the detachable solar roof accessory that charges the original Bird Buddy after three full days of sunlight. The pricing and availability for this smart hummingbird feeder hasn't been announced yet, but you can buy the original Bird Buddy that identifies and records hundreds of other types of birds today.

    Best Monitor
    ViewFinity S9 Monitor
    Samsung ViewFinity S9 Monitor

The Samsung ViewFinity S9 monitor is a new rival to the Apple Studio display — and it packs some serious competition. Designed for content creators and graphic designers, it has a matte 27-inch display panel with the same size and 5K (5,120 x 2,880 pixels) resolution as the Apple product. Its built-in color calibration engine will allow users to adjust their viewing experience via a smartphone app.

Remarkably, the ViewFinity S9 comes with a discreet 4K webcam for crystal-clear videoconferencing. The monitor will become available to order later this year, and its price tag is yet to be revealed.

A nod to a Lenovo ThinkPad product with the sam Twist moniker from a decade ago, the notebook packs a duo of stylus-compatible touchscreens (12-inch e-ink and 13.3-inch OLED) with a rotating hinge. The latter allows it to transform into a multitude of devices depending on your needs.

The ThinkBook Plus Twist's specs include 13th-generation Intel chips and up to 18 months of battery life if you rely only on its e-ink screen. The notebook will arrive in June with a $1,649 starting price.

    Best All-in-One PC
Yoga AIO 9i All-in-One Desktop PC
Lenovo Yoga AIO 9i All-in-One Desktop PC

Lenovo’s all-new Yoga AIO 9i all-in-one desktop computer is an upcoming contender for the best in its class. The product has a striking design, headlined by a metal hinge for adjusting the angles of its 32-inch 4K display, and a sustainable build with recycled aluminum and plastic. Its connectivity ports are cleverly arranged into the back of its base, making it look incredibly minimalist.

The top-tier hardware specs of the AIO 9i are as impressive as its design. The product packs 13th-generation Intel chips, NVIDIA GeForce 40 series graphics, and spatial audio-capable speakers. As far as pricing goes, it will start at $1,799.99 when it becomes available this summer.

    Best Webcam
    Kiyo Pro Ultra
    Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra

Razer’s new Kiyo Pro Ultra features the largest sensor that’s ever been in a webcam. For camera enthusiasts who are just itching for the specs, I’ve got you — it has the 1/1.2-inch Sony Starvis 2 sensor with a f/1.7 aperture. Basically, the lens is the size of one you’d find in a DSLR.

Razer claims it can deliver uncompressed 4K Ultra HD video at 24fps (or 1440p/30fps) and 1080p Full HD at 60fps (or 30fps with HDR).

We expect the webcam to fare well in dark conditions, making it perfect for remote workers looking for a detailed image — with a nice bokeh effect that’ll keep you in focus, your surroundings vibrant, and you looking your best. If you're ready to upgrade your webcam, good news, you can order the Kiyo Pro Ultra today!

    Best Wellness Tech
    U-Scan
    Withings U-Scan

The U-Scan is a pebble-shaped device that hangs from a plastic tab on the side of your toilet bowl, similar to a deodorizer block. The device captures urine, which is analyzed internally by the device, and it pairs with your smartphone so you can read the results.

Withings says the device was developed after noticing urine was an “underestimated stream of health data.” A urinalysis assesses many aspects of an individual’s health, and the U-Scan can help people monitor nutrition and metabolic information and track their menstrual cycles.

The U-Scan is expected to launch later this summer for around $500, but Withings is awaiting clearance by the US Food and Drug Administration. It’s reusable, charges via USB-C, and comes with a pair of gloves and a cleaning agent.

    Best Beauty Product
    HAPTA Makeup Applicator
    L’Oréal HAPTA Makeup Applicator

Each year Best Products editors discover and test products that make our lives better and a little easier, but for the disabled, there can oftentimes be barriers when it comes to taking advantage of these new product advancements. We're happy to see brands like Sony and L’Oréal creating more accessible products for people with limited hand and arm mobility.

At CES, Sony announced a highly customizable accessibility controller kit for its PlayStation 5 console, and L’Oréal’s announced an assistive device called HAPTA that offers greater autonomy for people with limited arm and hand mobility.

The makeup applicator features self-leveling tech and embedded sensors to provide users with a full range of motion and to help keep things steady. Not only that, it includes customizable attachments that assist in opening difficult-to-open packaging.

    Best Car Accessory
Automotive nanoe X Portable Air Purifier
Panasonic Automotive nanoe X Portable Air Purifier

My colleagues and I had been stressing the importance of air purifiers and air quality monitors even before the pandemic, but there’s one place you probably never thought to put an air purifier: the car.

Panasonic’s cup-shaped nanoe X portable in-vehicle air cleaner helps your cabin filter tackle odor and harmful air pollutants. The air purifier is powered by your vehicle’s USB-port, and Panasonic says it’ll clean the air in a car’s cabin in about two hours at a “whisper-quiet” 36 decibels.

My two dogs ride in my SUV every week, so I hope to put the nanoe X to the test soon to see how it handles pet dander. The air purifier is certified by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the Electrical Testing Laboratory (ETL), and the California Air Resource Board (CARB) — all separate entities that have rigorous standards for air purifiers. So, it seems quite promising!

    Best New Baby Monitor
    Thermo AI Smart Baby Monitor
Chillax Thermo AI Smart Baby Monitor

If you’ve ever waffled about whether or not to go into the nursery to check on the status of your baby’s diaper, you will know how cool a diaper-detect feature on a monitor would be. Thanks to the AI power of the Thermo AI, Chillax’s newest smart monitor uses multispectral imaging to detect if there’s been a shift in the temperature of your child's diaper area.

That same temperature monitoring also alerts parents to a change in their baby’s core temperature, potentially alerting you to a fever even before the inevitable fussiness begins. The Thermo AI also has face and posture detection like the Giraffe, as well as an included monitor and app for your device.

Best Family Sound and Light Machine
Restore 2 Smart Sound Machine Alarm Clock
Hatch Restore 2 Smart Sound Machine Alarm Clock

Some kids (and grown-ups) require a bit more help with getting to sleep and waking up than others. The Hatch Restore 2 is one possible solution. It’s not just a waking lamp and white noise machine. The Restore 2 is an entire routine-building device with tons of options for customization depending on what works for your child (or yourself).

When going to bed, the Restore 2 will slowly dim the light while playing music or sounds of your choosing. When rising, it will gradually increase the brightness of the moon-shaped light and play an alarm with the option of positive affirmations or even a stretching routine to get the blood flowing. If you want to add extras like sleep stories and guided rest routines, the app is $5 per month or $50 per year.

    Best New Stroller
    Founder Edition Ella Stroller
    Glüxkind Founder Edition Ella Stroller

A self-driving, power-assist, smart stroller with just about every feature a parent could dream up has finally been realized by Canadian manufacturer, Gluxkind. The Ella stroller is wild. It has all the standard features that make for a traditional high-end stroller, like a bassinet with an extended canopy and bed with the ability to sit at an incline, lay-flat seating in the jump seat, magnetic harness, and easy-to-clean fabrics. But that’s child’s play for the Ella.

To start, there’s a built-in white noise machine, giving the bassinet a womb-like environment. It has power assist to get up hills, over rough terrain, or just give you a boost after pushing your baby around all day. If your baby is sleepy, just turn it on rock mode, and it will gently glide forward and back, lulling baby to sleep while you sit at a cafe, or hang on your patio.

And like AirTags, you can find your stroller anywhere via the app. Whether you’re checking to see how far your partner and child are from getting home — or if it was stolen — it has a built-in tracking device.

It’s available for pre-order right now with a $200 deposit. There’s no firm release date for this $3,300 stroller, so if you’re expecting soon, you may need to wait for the next baby.

    Best New Car Seat
    Convertible Car Seat
    Babyark Convertible Car Seat

You’ve never seen a car seat quite like this. The Babyark may possibly be the safest car seat ever designed. Shaped like an egg more than a regular car seat, it's engineered to take impact from any direction while keeping your baby safe.

The seat is made of a combination of D30 polymer, carbon fiber, and ultra-dense cushioning. It has a rigid latch and anti-rebound bar as well as SafeCoil technology that keep the seat steadier than other models by braking forward momentum during a crash.

Crash safety isn’t the only thing that the Babyark engineers were concerned about. Every year, too many babies are accidentally left behind in hot or cold cars, often due to parental exhaustion. This can have deadly consequences. The Babyark ACTV8 smart base works with an app on your phone to tell you if you’ve been separated from your baby, where your baby is, and if the seat is safe, thanks to the 14 sensors in the base.

The seat is a convertible seat that is both rear- and forward-facing from birth to 55+ pounds. It is pricey at around $1,000, but can you put a price on that kind of safety?

    Best Smartwatch for Kids
    Gizmo Watch 3
    Verizon Gizmo Watch 3

Verizon has long been known for their safer, high-quality smartwatches for kids, the Gizmo. This year, Verizon unveiled the Gizmo 3, which has some huge upgrades. First off, the total number of people able to go on your child’s pre-approved safelist doubles from 10 to 20. Second, the battery life and run time has improved call time by 80% and standby time by 20%.

There are more safe zones that alert you if your child goes out of an expected area, there are more games to play and the biggest bonus? It now has a front-facing camera that can be used for video, photos, and video calling.

All of these features, plus the great features already available, like activity monitoring and movement encouragement, timers and scheduling, games for passing the time, and easy texting.
